With the phrase "Music is lived here", Semanas Musicales de Frutillar launched the program for its 58th season, an open invitation to live the extraordinary experience of being part of this historic music festival in the south of Chile.

In its new version, the festival will be held between January 27 and February 4, 2026, offering nine days of concerts -one more than in the previous version- in which Frutillar will be the great meeting point for classical music, consolidating its role as a symbol of cultural decentralization in southern Chile.

The official launch of the 58th Season was held at the Municipal Library of Frutillar, with the participation of authorities, representatives of collaborating institutions, artists, sponsors and members of the community. The event included a musical performance by musicians from Valparaíso, Concepción and Frutillar, the three Creative Cities of Music recognized by UNESCO, which will also be represented in the next season by orchestras from those territories.

Diverse and high-level programming

The 2026 program will bring together orchestras, chamber ensembles and national and international soloists from Chile, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Poland and Austria. The evening concerts, to be held at the Espacio Tronador - Sala Nestlé of the Teatro del Lago, will offer a wide range of music, from Beethoven to the great contemporary symphonies.

Handel's Messiah, conducted by Tobias Volkmann, together with the Symphonic Orchestra and Chorus of the University of Chile.

The midday concerts will feature the participation of outstanding soloists and chamber ensembles, among them the Polish pianist Piotr Salajczyk -thanks to the support of the Polish Embassy-; the Ars Cantus Duo (Brazil); the Italian violoncellist Julia Tripodo; the Lied Duo (Germany-Uruguay); the Consort Guitarrístico (Chile); the accordionist Joaquín Muñoz (Chile); the Italian cellist Julia Tripodo; the Lied Duo (Germany-Uruguay); the Consort Guitarrístico (Chile); the accordionist Joaquín Muñoz (Chile); the Trío Ecos (Chile); the German cellist Francisco Joui Karr, recent winner of the Dr. Luis Sigall International Competition; and the Quartet Cuartet (Chile). Training, collaboration and community

As part of the strengthening of ties with the region, young local string instrumentalists will accompany the FACH Symphonic Band in three concerts at the Teatro del Lago and one additional concert in Puerto Montt. In addition, the Chamber Orchestra will offer a free concert open to the community, reaffirming the festival's commitment to community integration.

Local choirs will also be protagonists in this edition, representing the talent and identity of the community. In total, about 100 musicians from the Lakes Region will actively participate in the opening concert of this new edition.

As every year, the Frutillar Musical Weeks will also be present in other locations in southern Chile with their extension concerts, which are totally free of charge. In 2026 they will reach Purranque, Puerto Octay, Puerto Varas, Osorno, Río Negro, La Unión, Fresia, Llanquihue, the Frutillar Medialuna and the Diego Rivera Theater in Puerto Montt, contributing to cultural access and decentralization.

International projection

Finally, Glasinovic emphasized that, starting this year, Frutillar Music Weeks will become part of the Chile Brand, which will allow the festival to be more strongly projected to the world and continue to position Frutillar as a UNESCO Creative City of Music.

"The Frutillar Music Weeks are a symbol of cooperation, identity and encounter. Thanks to the joint work and the enthusiasm of our public, we continue to build a virtuous space that transcends borders and generations," said Karina Glasinovic.

The president of the Cultural Corporation thanked the teams, partners, musicians, sponsors, media and local community for their constant commitment, and invited everyone to experience nine days of art, emotion and encounter in the 58th Season of the Frutillar Musical Weeks.
