The industrial giant in Independencia reopens its doors on May 31

This Sunday, May 31, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the iconic former Ebner Brewery (565 Independencia Ave.) will open its doors to celebrate Heritage Day. In a joint effort between the local Cultural Corporation and Mall Barrio Independencia, this architectural gem and National Historic Monument will offer free guided tours that invite visitors on a journey back in time. Attendees will be able to discover the secrets and cutting-edge technology of a brewery that led the Latin American market in the 19th century, capping off the experience with tastings, live music, and surprises.

 Through a joint initiative between the Corporation for Culture and Heritage of the “
” Municipality of Independencia and Mall Barrio Independencia, the National “
” Monument will offer free guided tours to uncover the secrets of the “
” factory, which led the Latin American market in the 19th century.


For the third consecutive year, the iconic former Ebner Brewery (Ex Cervecería Ebner) will open its doors to the public at 565 Avenida Independencia on Sunday, May 31, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to celebrate the International Day for Monuments and Sites (
), cementing its status as one of the must-see landmarks in the northern part of the capital (
).
Located at 565 Independencia Avenue, this architectural gem—built between
1885 and 1888 by the German architect Andrés Ebner—invites the community on a journey through
time.
“We invite families to join us at this community celebration to
discover the cultural and heritage richness of this valuable space for reflection and
education regarding heritage and the city,” highlights Daniela Contreras, Head of
Marketing at Mall Barrio Independencia.
A journey through the avant-garde of the 19th century
Attendees can participate in 20-minute guided tours led by
expert guides. There, they will learn how this facility—which at one point employed more than
800 workers—revolutionized the industry with its mills and fermentation vats
, successfully exporting its production to various countries in Latin America
.
At the end of the tour, and as part of the celebration, participants will be able to
enjoy tastings and surprise gifts prepared especially for this
event.
Declared a Historic Monument in 1984, the former Ebner Brewery is not only a
preserved building but also a symbol of Chilean industrial progress. Its
opening represents a unique opportunity for new generations to
connect with the identity of a neighborhood that was once the country’s economic engine.
