My name is Leo Rebolledo. I am a Chilean painter based in the U.S., and I have just been informed that my work has been selected to participate in a national art competition created by actor Johnny Depp. What’s interesting is that the pieces I submitted were created using Chilean wine as a “pigment” or painting medium.

Chilean artist Leo Rebolledo, who currently lives in the United States, was selected to participate in The People’s Artist, an international contest launched by actor Johnny Depp that seeks to highlight original artistic proposals through public voting.
Rebolledo is participating with a series of works created using wine as a painting medium, a personal technique he has developed in recent years that explores themes related to memory, time, and human emotion. His work combines material research and contemporary figuration, transforming wine—one of Chile’s most important cultural symbols—into a visual language.
The artist, previously recognized for his involvement in the Lunar Codex project and for exhibitions in the United States and Europe, noted that this selection represents an opportunity to further his research and bring international attention to an artistic vision deeply rooted in his Chilean heritage.
The contest will be decided by an online vote open to the public starting Monday, May 4.
