October 13 marks 10 years since the miners were rescued alive from the San José mine, a milestone that put Chile at the center of the world's attention and captivated the world's media.

To commemorate the anniversary of the largest rescue in the history of global mining, Imagen de Chile organized a conference with international media to highlight the lessons learned from the accident, the advances in mining safety and the crucial role that collaboration played in the success of the mission.

At the event, the Minister of Mining, Baldo Prokurica, highlighted the change of paradigm in mining safety in the last 10 years and the considerable increase in the number of inspections, which has allowed Chile to become one of the mining countries with the lowest accident rates in the world, surpassed only by Australia.

Also present was René Aguilar, the second in charge of Operation San Lorenzo, who shared details of the historic rescue and highlighted the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors, as well as between countries.

During the meeting, videos were presented by André Sougarret, leader of the rescue mission, who is currently working in Mexico, and Dr. JD Polk, medical director of NASA, the institution that advised the team on health issues.
