In the middle of the Atacama Desert in Chile, the multinational EIG inaugurated on Tuesday the first Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) plant in Latin America, which adds to the South American country's efforts to move towards a rapid decarbonization of its energy matrix.
Unlike traditional solar photovoltaic or wind power plants, the striking, newly created Cerro Dominador will use technology that allows the sun's heat to be stored to generate electricity for hours, even at night.
