Chile has been chosen as the host of a high-level international sporting event: the 2026 UCI Mountain Bike Masters World Cup to be held at Nevados de Chillánin the Ñuble region, between March 25 and 29. The competition will bring together more than 1,000 cyclists of master categories over 35 years of age, from at least 25 countries, in the downhill and cross-country disciplines. Thus, the territory consolidates its relevance as an outstanding scenario for this sport at a global level.

"Chile will be the center of world attention with this championship. My invitation is that we come to know this place for many more reasons. Ñuble is a territory that is committed to the development of mountain tourism and today is projected to the world with this championship," said the Undersecretary of Tourism, Verónica Pardo, during the official launch of the event.

A milestone for the country

After the 2025 edition in Australia, the designation of our country confirms its growing prominence in sports and nature tourism, thanks to attributes such as its geographical diversity, connectivity and modern infrastructure. Chillán, for example, is accessible by road, plane, bus or train. The latter, operated by EFE Central, is considered the most modern in South America.

"We are in the mountains all year round. In winter, we are a family ski resort and in summer, an ideal destination for cycling and outdoor activities. This championship is like the FIFA World Cup of cycling. We will receive more than 1,000 exponents from around the world. For Nevados de Chillán and for Ñuble, this is historic," said Guillermo Ruiz Pérez, president of Nevados de Chillán.

High expectations

It is expected that during March the championship will attract more than 3,000 visitors, which will generate an important boost to the local economy and improve infrastructure and tourist services. The authorities and organizers are already working on the preparation of roads, signage, and other key elements to guarantee a safe, high-level experience for both athletes and those accompanying them.

"We invite you to get to know Ñuble, this region that inspires us. This place has been chosen for this World Cup because it is wonderful, not only for its landscape surrounded by snow, but also for its attention, its gastronomy and its people. We have been consolidating tourism as one of the most strategic sectors, not only in Ñuble, but also in the country. Just as we are opening it to Chile, we are also opening it to the world", emphasized the regional governor of Ñuble, Óscar Crisóstomo.
