In areas ranging from Economy, Mining, Tourism and Sports, our country will host several meetings of global significance, receiving hundreds of experts and international organizations. Find out what they are here.
In March of this year, the cities of Santiago and Punta Arenas will host the Annual Meeting of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). With the invitation to adopt the slogan "Believe, Create and Grow", the Minister of Finance Mario Marcel proposed to emphasize regional integration, sustainability, sustainable investments "with the challenge of betting on the energy transition with the development of lithium and green hydrogen projects".
During the first half of the year, three conferences will bring together the best of the mining industry and development on a continental level. The first of these is Desalination Latin America, which will be held on March 19-20 in Santiago. Conceived as a relevant platform for the development of strategies, it will also be the ideal scenario for the exchange of experiences and presentation of new investment projects in the desalination sector.
One month later, between April 22 and 25, Expomin 2025 will be held, catalogued as the largest mining fair in Latin America, which seeks to promote the transfer of knowledge, experiences and especially the offer of technologies that contribute to innovation and increase the productivity of mining processes.
Closing the semester, in June, Hydrogen Latin America 2025 will take place, where current trends in the hydrogen industry will be discussed with investment project managers, representatives of leading companies, regulatory authorities, and suppliers of equipment and technologies for the production, use, storage and transportation of hydrogen.
The southern part of the country will be the scene of tourism promotion events in 2025. In September, in the region of La Araucanía, specifically in the Kultrakura Geopark, the 11th International Conference of Unesco Global Geoparks will be held, an occasion in which some 1,500 delegates from 56 countries are expected to attend.
Between October 13 and 16, the southern city of Puerto Natales will host the annual event of the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), which brings together tour operators, professionals and experts in adventure tourism from around the world, attracting more than a thousand visitors.
Sporting events such as Santiago 2023, the Women's Hockey Junior World Cup and the country's solid bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games demonstrate Chile's capacity to organize high standard sporting events. In this context, the country will host important sporting events in 2025, consolidating its position as a reference in the region for these events.
The year kicks off with the America's Beach Soccer Cup 2025, to be held between February 22 and March 2 at Cavancha Beach in Iquique, in the north of the country. On June 28 and July 6, the women's basketball stars will compete in Santiago in the Americup 2025, one of the most important championships in this discipline, which will provide quotas for the 2026 World Cup in Germany.
The motor world will take over the southern region of Bíobio as part of the Chile Rally, to be held between September 11 and 14, the third of the events to be held in South America after Argentina and Brazil.
Santiago, Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, Rancagua and Talca are the host cities of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, the most important tournament for youth teams, which will be played between September 27 and October 19.
Meanwhile, and for the first time in its history, Chile will host a Track Cycling World Championship from October 15-19, 2025 at the Peñalolén Velodrome in Santiago, and will end a 2025 full of elite sports with the 2025 Parapan American Youth Games, to be held in November, a Paralympic sporting event that includes the presence of more than 20 countries in 12 disciplines.
