Through 5 thematic axes -sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation, renewable energies, solutions to the water crisis and astronomy-, the documentary seeks to show Chilean initiatives that provide solutions to face the transformations of the planet.

The medium-length film was directed by Maite Alberdi and directed by María Paz González, Sebastián Fernández and Santiago Correa. Fábula was in charge of production.

As part of the inauguration of SANFIC Industry, Imagen de Chile is holding today the preview of the documentary "I am the Earth. Stories from the end of the world", an audiovisual production that seeks to account for the environmental crisis that our planet is going through today, and how from our country there are initiatives that seek to address it.

Throughout 46 minutes, the film takes a look at different initiatives and cases where Chileans contribute to mitigate the effects of climate change, from large projects or scientific innovations, to everyday citizen actions, all collectively necessary.

The medium-length film was directed by the renowned Oscar-nominated director in 2021, Maite Alberdi, who worked together with unit directors María Paz González, Sebastián Fernández and Santiago Correa. The documentary was produced by Fábula, a production company that won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 2018 with the film "A Fantastic Woman".

A reflection on the environmental crisis

Through 5 thematic axes, which address sustainable agriculture; forest and biodiversity conservation; renewable energies; water crisis; and astronomy, the documentary presents a reflection through a choral story told on 3 levels: a narrator, in the voice of Maite Alberdi, who represents nature and makes the reflections; the astronomer Andrés Jordán as the thread of the stories; and the voice of different characters, each one from his experience and from his territory (from the desert to ice fields), contributing with solutions for a better future.

"The focus of this documentary is to show how Chile is contributing to an issue that touches all of humanity such as climate change, how Chile is generating new answers that connect with what the world is looking for, and in this way contribute solutions to climate change from this country to the south of the world," said Constanza Cea, executive director of Imagen de Chile. "With this documentary we are telling different stories in different areas, such as biodiversity, food, care of the oceans, different issues that address this matter and to which Chileans and Chileans are responding and creating the future," she added.

The documentary includes the participation of Andrés Jordán, astrophysicist; Osvaldo Ulloa, researcher and ocean explorer; Bárbara Saavedra, ecologist and biodiversity conservation specialist, director of the Wildlife Conservation Society; Claudia Maturana, Evolutionary Biologist of the Institute of Ecology and Biodiversity; Cristián Sjögren, Civil Engineer and AgTech entrepreneur; Rodrigo Delmastro, Forestry Engineer, dedicated to renewable energies (HIF); Marcelo Leppe, Paleobiologist and Antarctic Explorer, director of Inach; Nicolás Schneider and Natalia Rebolledo, dedicated to fog (Un Alto en el Desierto); and Ricardo Acuña, President of Ecobarrios (Población Cuatro Álamos, Maipú).
