Chile played a leading role at the 41st Guadalajara International Film Festival, solidifying its global standing through an initiative that combined cultural identity, artistic recognition, and industrial development.

The national program featured a wide-ranging selection of contemporary and classic films, along with tributes to figures such as Pablo Larraín, Sebastián Lelio, and Maite Alberdi, reflecting the international recognition that Chilean talent has achieved in recent years.

One of the highlights was the master class given by Pablo and Juan de Dios Larraín, which focused on the internationalization of Chilean cinema. During the session, they emphasized the value of co-production as a driver of development: “Collaboration between countries ensures that the stories told are universal,” they noted, highlighting a model that has expanded the reach of national productions.

Chilean participation also extended to industry and networking events, strengthening ties with Mexico and other key markets, in line with a strategy aimed at generating new opportunities for investment and collaboration.

Growth and Opportunities

At the Guadalajara Film Market, Chile reinforced its position as a competitive player in the creative industries, with a delegation of more than 60 representatives and a portfolio of projects geared toward international co-production.

The figures reflect this momentum: in 2025, according to data from ProChile, exports of audiovisual services reached US$82 million, representing a 12% increase over the previous year. Mexico, for its part, established itself as a strategic partner, with exports nearing US$2 million and playing a key role as a gateway to other markets in the region.

The country’s sustained presence at this event—having participated since 2003 and maintained an industry-specific booth since 2010—reflects a long-term strategy aimed at advancing the sector’s internationalization by promoting talent, filming locations, and the development of initiatives with global reach.
