Argentina, Peru, Spain, and the United States were the countries that published the most news about Chile, according to a survey conducted by Marca Chile in 101 media outlets in 17 key countries.
During 2025, international press coverage of Chile was mainly focused on political, sporting, and economic issues, according to media monitoring carried out by Marca Chile in 101 media outlets in 17 priority countries (Germany, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, Spain, United States, France, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Peru, and United Kingdom).
The analysis shows that sports were the topic that received the most attention in international coverage throughout the year (23.6%), especially during the first half of the year. The Chilean national team's participation in the South American qualifiers generated numerous publications, while during the second half of the year, attention focused on international tournaments such as the South American Cup and the Under-20 World Cup. Much of this news was reported by media outlets in the region, particularly in Argentina and Peru.
Politics was the second most popular topic in the media (22%), especially during the second half of the year, when the presidential election placed the country at the center of the international news agenda. Media outlets in Latin America, the United States, and Spain extensively covered the campaign, analyzed the results, and discussed the political implications of José Antonio Kast's victory.

The economy also remained a prominent feature on the international agenda (21.1%). During the first half of the year, publications focused on the country's economic performance, including macroeconomic indicators, mining activity, and exports. In the second half of the year, the focus shifted to international trade relations and analysis of the Chilean economic context in comparison with other countries in the region.
In terms of editorial tone, international coverage of Chile during 2025 was mostly neutral (71.2%). Positive news (16.2%), meanwhile, focused mainly on content related to tourism, cultural events, and science and technology, where the country was presented as an attractive destination with developments in research and innovation.
In contrast, negative coverage (12.6%) was mainly associated with accidents, natural disasters, and environmental events, especially seismological reports or emergency situations that generated international media interest.
In addition to the presidential elections and the South American qualifiers, there were several topics that marked international coverage throughout the year. Seismological reports tend to generate global interest, as do catastrophic events. In 2025, the nationwide power outage at the beginning of the year dominated the headlines.
Other relevant topics included international trade relations, investments in services and infrastructure, investments and mining, and the promotion of tourist destinations.

Geographically, international coverage of Chile was led mainly by media outlets in Argentina (23.6%) and Peru (20.4%), followed by Spain (15.7%) and the United States (13.8%), reflecting the strong presence of Chilean issues in Latin American media.
Argentina's coverage focused mainly on economic and sports issues. Peru, meanwhile, focused on content related to sports, economics, and politics.
The United States and Spain also maintained a significant presence in the coverage of the Chilean electoral process, providing political and economic analysis on the country.
For its part, China stood out for recording the highest levels of favorability toward Chile, with publications that mainly associated the country with areas such as economic cooperation, stability, and scientific and technological development.
