Norwegian energy company Statkraft announced the construction of three wind farms with a combined capacity of 102 MW in Chile, the first such units in the South American country, the company said.

In total, the Torsa wind project is expected to produce more than 300 GWh of renewable energy per year once it is fully operational in December 2022, enough to power 100,000 average Chilean homes, Statkraft said.

The wind farms will be located in the O'Higgins Region, 124 kilometers south of the capital Santiago, and will contribute to meeting Chile's growing demand for renewable energy.
