The documentary "I am the Earth. Stories from the end of the world", produced by Imagen de Chile, will be present during the International Documentary Film Festival of Amsterdam, the largest event of its kind in the world, which will take place between November 9 and 20.
Imagen de Chile, as representative of our country at the festival, hosted the "Guest Meet Guest" event, a space in which world leaders in the documentary industry participated, and where it was announced that the work will soon be available to the general public.
In 46 minutes, the film takes a look at different initiatives and cases where Chileans contribute to mitigate the effects of climate change, from large projects or scientific innovations, to everyday citizen actions, all collectively necessary. The focus of this documentary is to show how Chile is contributing to an issue that touches all of humanity such as climate change, through 5 thematic axes: sustainable agriculture, forest and biodiversity conservation, renewable energies, water crisis and astronomy.
The medium-length film featured a pool of renowned national filmmakers and documentary filmmakers, with the general direction of Oscar-nominated director in 2021, Maite Alberdi, who worked together with unit directors María Paz González, Sebastián Fernández and Santiago Correa. The documentary was produced by Fábula, a production company that won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 2018 with the film "A Fantastic Woman".
"Making this film about climate change was a very enriching journey. We worked with an incredible, very talented team of filmmakers who were committed to this project," said the marketing director of Imagen de Chile, Ximena Baeza, adding: "With the production company Fábula headed by Juan de Dios Larraín, and the filmmaking team led by Maite Alberdi, we made this trip that allowed us to collect different stories throughout Chile, stories of Chileans who are being agents of change, and that through their testimony we want to inspire and mobilize, so that, from anywhere in the world, from any sidewalk, we can all collaborate to mitigate climate change that concerns us all," she added.
The making of the medium-length film is part of the country image strategy "Chile Creando Futuro", a plan that through different marketing and communications actions aims to position Chile in the world as a relevant actor in the face of global problems, highlighting the talent, creativity and innovation that its people have to contribute.
"This documentary, which shows concrete actions that Chile is taking to address climate change, is part of what Imagen de Chile seeks to convey to the world. Today more than ever the planet is facing challenges that will define the near future and we are convinced that our country has the potential to generate solutions and inspire, all through Chileans who today are making a difference, either with small community projects, or through international initiatives that allow us to join efforts in building a better future," said the executive director of Imagen de Chile, Jorge Cortés.
