Chile's geography is one of the great differentiating attributes of the country's image. We have an extraordinary territory that distinguishes us, for which the world recognizes us and which has been an excellent letter of introduction. Having the driest desert on the planet, millenary glaciers, four thousand kilometers of coastline and being one of the countries with the most active volcanoes in the world is unique and very attractive.

However, Chile is not only geography, it is also its people and its stories. It is not often shown with the same enthusiasm what Chileans do to value, respect and conserve this territory.

In Imagen de Chile we want to put people at the center, hand in hand with sport and adventure tourism. This diverse and extreme land has not only forged the identity of Chileans, their resilience and their spirit of effort, but it has also been the perfect setting for our young people to develop their talents in the midst of waves, glaciers, mountain ranges and dunes. Great talents have emerged from the hand of our particular geography, making sport and adventure into professional careers that have led them to win medals around the world representing Chile.

For this reason, together with the Ministry of Sports, the Undersecretary of Tourism and Sernatur, we developed the international campaign "Welcome to Adventure Tourism", which seeks to show the world the opportunities offered by the incredible nature of our country, through the stories of six outstanding Chilean athletes: Henrik Von Appen, alpine skier; Paola Muñoz, cyclist; Bárbara Hernández, ice water swimmer; bodyboarder Valentina Díaz; Cristian Merello, surfer; and pilot Francisco "Chaleco" López became ambassadors of the Chile brand in various audiovisual pieces that have already had a reach of more than five million people around the world. The campaign is an invitation to everyone, foreigners and compatriots, to rediscover and be surprised by Chile.
In 2019 we were recognized for the fourth consecutive year as the "Best Adventure Tourism Destination", over powers in this sector such as Australia or New Zealand. Adventure tourism allows us to unite territory with talent, but also, and very importantly, it tells us about reliability. A tourist carries out this type of activity in a place where he feels safe, and our country has the infrastructure and the capacity to generate that confidence. All this is a good synthesis that shows the best of us.

These awards also demonstrate people's sensitivity towards respect for the environment and the commitment to sustainable tourism. An offer that is becoming more attractive every day for tourists who visit us and a global trend that mobilizes millions. Our country has a lot to offer in this regard, which is a huge advantage and a great opportunity. Therefore, I would like to highlight the key role played by Chilean men and women over the years, because they have been able to value the best of our territory and that is what makes us so special, different and eligible. Undoubtedly, Chile's image reflects the effort and talent of our greatest asset: our people. The invitation is made.
