More than 350 academics, government officials, representatives of international organizations, and industry leaders from all five continents will participate in the 47th Conference of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), an event that will position the country as a forum for discussion on the major challenges facing global energy development.
Santiago will serve as the meeting place for some of the most influential voices in the global energy sector with the 47th Conference of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), one of the most important forums for analyzing the trends that will shape the future of energy.
From July 19 to 22, the Chilean capital will host more than 350 specialists from all five continents—including academics, government officials, representatives of international organizations, business executives, and public policy experts—who will analyze the economic, technological, and geopolitical challenges facing the sector amid a period of rapid transformation.
Under the theme “Bridging Continents, Fueling Progress: Energy Development in a Global Context,” the conference will address strategic issues such as energy security, the design of electricity markets, the resilience of critical infrastructure, financing the energy transition, the development of critical minerals, the evolution of oil and gas markets, sustainable mobility, and regional energy integration.
The conference will take place at the Catholic University’s Extension Center and will feature plenary sessions and high-level panels with representatives from universities, international organizations, governments, and companies in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania, establishing itself as one of the leading forums for knowledge exchange and dialogue among the academic community, the public sector, and industry.
For Ricardo Raineri, past president of the IAEE and one of the driving forces behind hosting the event in Chile, the gathering represents a unique opportunity to analyze the challenges that will shape the future of the energy sector.
“The IAEE International Conference is one of the world’s leading forums for analyzing the economic, technological, and geopolitical challenges facing the energy sector. Bringing together experts from all five continents in Chile will enrich the debate with diverse perspectives and generate knowledge that contributes to better public policies and investment decisions.”
The agenda includes, among other highlights, an opening discussion on energy security in a fragmented world; a closing session dedicated to the economics and geopolitics of energy in Latin America and the Caribbean; as well as eight parallel plenary sessions focused on the flexibility of electric systems, resilient infrastructure, energy markets, financing, sustainable transportation, access to energy, and supply chains for critical minerals.
