Chile projects its literary and artistic talent in the most influential university fair in Ibero-America

The University of Chile will be the guest of honor at FILUNI 2025, organized by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the largest university publishing event in the region. With six thematic axes -from gender and feminism to indigenous peoples- the national delegation will strengthen cultural and academic exchange with Mexico and other countries.

A delegation of prominent artists, writers and academics -including National Literature Prize winners Elvira Hernández, Raúl Zurita and Elicura Chihuailaf; National Plastic Arts Prize winner Cecilia Vicuña; National Social Sciences and Humanities Prize winner Manuel Antonio Garretón; and writer Daniela Catrileo- will represent Chile at FILUNI 2025, to be held in Mexico City between August 26 and 31. The delegation, also made up of students and creators residing in Mexico, will deploy more than 60 cultural, academic and artistic activities.

FILUNI is the main Ibero-American space for university books, where higher education institutions, publishing professionals, librarians, cultural managers, students and the general public come together. This year, the University of Chile is the guest of honor and, in an unprecedented gesture, will share this role with other universities in the country, bringing together diverse voices and perspectives.

"We are a public university, a convening, pluralistic university and we decided to respond to these values by inviting other cultural exponents, top referents in their disciplines, to expand the dialogue and link with the Mexican community. This list of guests will expand, but above all, they will come to FILUNI with their literary and intellectual imaginations to nurture this milestone for the U," said Professor Pilar Barba, vice rector of Extension and Communications at the University of Chile.

In addition to the strong national delegation, the Chilean stand's program was designed in conjunction with UNAM under six thematic axes: gender and feminism; human rights education and culture of peace; cultural and creative industries; earth in movement; Latin America, yesterday and today; and indigenous peoples: mestizaje and native cultures.

With its presence at FILUNI, the University of Chile reaffirms its commitment as a public and plural institution, promoting academic and cultural cooperation with Mexico and projecting Chilean talent in one of the most influential scenarios in the Spanish-speaking world.
