Acciona Energía has started up the Malgarida photovoltaic complex, located in the Atacama Desert in Chile, a country where it now has 992 MW of installed renewable power, after investing 144 million euros in this plant.
With 238 MW 'peak' and together with the Malgarida II center, Acciona Energía will generate 654 GWh of clean electricity per year, equivalent to the demand of some 280,000 Chilean homes, which will avoid the emission of some 512,000 tons of CO2 per year.
