Typical Heritage Areas of Chile

Accessibility settings

Within Chile's heritage, there are typical areas, which represent the evolution of the human community through its buildings and tourist attractions, and therefore require special conservation measures and, for the most part, give life to neighborhoods worthy of unforgettable postcards.

Historic center of Antofagasta
Antofagasta reveals its history in the historic center of a life immersed between the coast and the driest desert in the world. You can give joy to your heart by taking pictures of the former buildings of the Maritime Government or the maritime guardhouse that were built in your great-grandmother's time (1910), for the Centenary of Chilito bello. Also stop by the former Customs building or the old Railroad building, among many others.

Putaendo, the first free town in Chile

It is a beautiful colonial city in the province of San Felipe, which has maintained its architecture, layout and customs. All its streets are made up of multicolored houses built between the 18th and 19th centuries, which witnessed the passage of the Liberation Army that came from Mendoza. Take your camera and stroll through the house of the patriot José Antonio Salinas, the Church of San Antonio, or Comercio Street.

Hacienda San José del Carmen el Huique

Do you want countryside? Hacienda San José del Carmen el Huique, in the Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins region, has a beautiful setting. To walk around there is to return to the traditional rural and Creole life of the 19th century, among corridors, patios and adobe walls. Today it is the El Huique Museum of the Chilean Army. And in the surroundings you will find beauties such as the theater with the same name, the church (1852) and the pedestrian promenade.

Rural Batuco
Just minutes from the capital, Batuco stands out for being the perfect mix between urban and rural, where you can enjoy old peasant traditions and the beautiful view that surrounds its unique wetland. A must-see for its great architectural beauty is the Iglesia de Piedra (Stone Church), declared a National Monument in 1997.
