Accessibility settings

"We Are Chile " brings together the stories of people from various fields who reflect the diversity of talents that showcase Chile to the world.

In this section, you'll find answers to the main questions about the project, its purpose, the selection process for its participants, and how to experience it at Santiago Airport and on its digital platform.

What is the "Somos Chile" project?

Santiago Airport is Chile’s main gateway for incoming and outgoing travel, handling the majority of international passenger traffic and serving as one of the country’s most visible points of contact for visitors from around the world. It also represents the first and last physical contact that millions of people have with Chile each year, making it a prime showcase for projecting the nation’s identity and strengthening the country’s image.

In this context, “Somos Chile” is a joint initiative of Santiago Airport and Marca Chile, born from the opportunity to transform this point of contact into an experience that allows us to discover and recognize what defines us.

The project focuses on people from various fields who contribute to building and promoting Chile’s image around the world, highlighting their stories, career paths, and contributions.

What is the goal of the project?

The goal of Somos Chile is to enrich the experience of those passing through the International Terminal by sharing stories that reflect the diversity of talents and contributions that make up Chile.

For those returning to the country, it seeks to strengthen their sense of belonging; for those visiting, it aims to spark their curiosity about a contemporary, creative, and innovative Chile.

Through the stories of individuals representing various spheres of national life, the initiative helps project an image of Chile that is also shaped by the people who contribute to the country’s development and recognition both within and beyond our borders.

How did the project get its name?

Somos Chile was born from a simple idea: to capture in a name what unites us and how we present ourselves to the world.

The project focuses on individuals from various fields and regions who embody values such as creativity, innovation, excellence, resilience, and diversity, and whose life stories help project a contemporary image of Chile.

That is why “Somos Chile” is not just about a country, but also about those who, through their stories and contributions, help shape Chile’s image both within and beyond our borders.

Where can I find the "Somos Chile" project?

"We Are Chile" is alive at the country's gateway—in the international corridors and terminals of Santiago Airport, where the experience begins the moment you step off the plane. There, passengers can meet and learn the stories of people who represent the diverse ways of being and doing things in Chile.

This welcoming experience also extends to the digital world through a website developed by Marca Chile, which brings together the stories, biographies, and audiovisual content of those who are part of the initiative.

How were the people to be featured selected?

The selection was made by a committee composed of Marca Chile and the Santiago Airport, using a methodology designed to identify living individuals who, from various fields, represent Chile and help promote its image around the world.

The project began with an initial selection of 40 stories based on the following criteria:

National and International Recognition

Significant contribution to their field: one that has a real, measurable, or symbolic impact in their professional, artistic, social, or community field.

Alignment with the country narrative: through initiatives that reflect values such as innovation, sustainability, creativity, resilience, and diversity.

Territorial and/or cultural representation: seeking a geographic and sociocultural balance that includes different regions, urban and rural contexts, and indigenous peoples.

Availability and willingness to participate in the initiative, with no associated costs for those selected.

As additional criteria, consideration was given to including emerging artists and ensuring a balanced representation of gender and age.

The stories were organized into five categories: Culture, Arts, and Heritage; Science, Education, Technology, and Innovation; Economy, Business, and Employment; Society and Well-Being; and Sports and International Profile.

What does Somos Chile aim to achieve in the long term?

Somos Chile aims to establish itself as a dynamic, ongoing platform to recognize, highlight, and share the stories of the people who are building Chile.

The initiative aims to go beyond its initial launch by expanding the project and incorporating new stories and content in the coming months.

Thus, Somos Chile aims to become a space that grows and evolves over time, continually reflecting the diversity, talent, and various ways of showcasing Chile.
