The "Chileans", both the famous football play and the young players of "la rojita", will be able to show off at the U-20 Women's World Cup in refurbished venues. They will have better lighting than at the National Stadium and a design that will allow the public to feel as if they are on the pitch.
There are 36 days left until the opening whistle of the U-20 Women's World Cup to be held in Chile. Master builders in the cities of Coquimbo, Temuco, Santiago and Chillán are putting the finishing touches to four refurbished stadiums that will receive the players. Even some of the representatives of the Chilean national team, the "rojita", have already inspected the works and were able to step on the pitch of the Germán Becker stadium and shout some "ceacheí" together with the workers.
The transformation of the classic sports venues - Francisco Sánchez Rumoroso (Coquimbo), Municipal de La Florida, Nelson Oyarzún (Chillán) and Germán Becker (Temuco) - has been complete. With an investment of almost US$ 90 million ($ 53 billion), the works are part of an investment in sports infrastructure which, according to President Michelle Bachelet, is "the most ambitious in the last 40 years".
Complying with FIFA standards, the infrastructure has facilities that guarantee the best sporting performance (four subway dressing rooms and a room for doping control), as well as the comfort of the public and the media. Seventy percent of the stadiums are roofed, with numbered seats, access for the disabled, electronic scoreboard and two giant screens connected to a closed circuit. On these screens you will be able to see the best Chilean goals and the behavior of the fans.
In Coquimbo and Temuco, the stadiums have a capacity for 18,000 spectators each; and in La Florida and Chillán, 12,000 people per stadium.
