The national illustrator will create a series of vignettes, presenting our country in a playful format, through humor.
"I'm getting the money for the cow", "I'm duck", "Die chicken", "What a horse this carrete". Perhaps what most characterizes us Chileans is our way of speaking, with sayings that mainly allude to animals. Imagen de Chile wanted to pick up this idiosyncrasy, with the help of one of the most recognized national illustrators today: Ingesman.
"One of the things I like the most is to tell stories using drawings, either in comic mode or with a simple vignette. Having the possibility of using this to tell about Chile fills me with happiness and also generates a lot of feeling of responsibility" says Inges Bizama, illustrator behind Ingesman, who has more than 230 thousand followers on Instagram.
Idioms, characteristic animals or animals with curious names, traditions, landmarks, tourist sites and even the greatest Guinness records registered in Chile, are some of the topics that will surprise every Friday until September.
"I have been lucky enough to travel outside of Chile and be long enough to miss its things and there is a lot that Chile has to tell. Then from happiness I started to feel it as a challenge and everything ended with the feeling of responsibility and to do my best to reach hopefully the greatest number of people. Teaching or giving a message is one of the best ways to use humor", he added.
Imagen de Chile seeks to position the country based on the contributions of Chileans to solve major problems affecting the world, through the Chile Creating Future strategy, highlighting local talent. "From our landscapes, history, products, customs and even expressions, Chileans are known for many reasons in the world. We are working on new formats with which to make our country known, and what better way than to do it through Chilean talent, taking advantage of a more playful format to represent the essence of our people," said the executive director of Imagen de Chile, Constanza Cea.
