The Test-Bed 2 Telescope was installed at the La Silla observatory to monitor objects that endanger the planet.

The European Southern Observatory (ESO) and the European Space Agency (ESA) have put into operation the Test-Bed Telescope 2 (TBT2), an instrument installed at the La Silla observatory (Chile) that will closely monitor asteroids that could pose a risk to Earth.

ESA's TBT2 will work alongside its northern hemisphere partner telescope and test new technology for a future network of telescopes, the European Southern Observatory reports in a statement.
