The Undersecretary of Agriculture, Ignacia Fernández, and the general director of ProChile, Ignacio Fernández, inaugurated today in Beijing the ninth version of Chile week China, the most important promotional event that the country carries out in China.

The activity began with the inauguration of the Made by Chileans Markets in Sanlitun T + mall, one of the most international areas of the Chinese capital, where more than 50 thousand people circulate daily.
The Chilean market is a meeting place for the Chinese public to learn about Chilean exports of wine, salmon, pisco, fruit and mussels, products that the public was able to taste on site. This activation will last two days in the city of Beijing and will be replicated in Chengdu and Guangzhou.
Continuing with the promotional actions, the Chilean authorities and the delegation attended the launch of a "Chile Corner" at the Wumart supermarket, where the sale of Chilean cherries this season was launched. The Wumart chain has more than 2,000 supermarkets throughout China and is expected to sell more than one billion cherries in its stores during the 2024-2025 season.
The Undersecretary of Agriculture, Ignacia Fernández, commented that "this event allows us to connect with public and private actors, positioning Chile as a reliable partner. This edition is a milestone on this path and we want to continue strengthening our friendship, exploring new possibilities in the areas of forestry and livestock exports, but also technology, innovation and other aspects to enhance the bilateral relationship".
Meanwhile, the general director of ProChile, Ignacio Fernandez, said that "thanks to Chile Week China and our continued work in the market, we have been able to build this confidence that today allows China to be the second destination for Chilean food, with US$ 3,341 million; and first destination for fresh fruit, meat and packaged wines. In the last 9 years, the same period that we have been holding this event, trade between Chile and China has increased by 77%, total Chilean shipments to this market have increased by 129%, while non-copper non-lithium shipments have increased by 154%".
Diversification in China
Among the objectives of this version are to continue creating relations and connections between Chile and China, to deepen market diversification, extending high-impact and commercial activities to new cities, and to use Chile Week as an umbrella to showcase the varied offerings of our country. This ninth Chile Week China will take place from Sunday, December 1 to Saturday, December 7, and includes more than 20 activities in four cities: Beijing, Hangzhou, Chengdu and Guanghzou.
The delegation is composed of 25 companies, including exporters of pisco, wine, meat, fresh and dried fruit, seafood, among others, and private associations such as Frutas de Chile, Consejo del Salmón, Wines of Chile, Faenacar, ChilePork and Pisco Chile.
In addition to the actions to the final public, on the first day there was also a pisco masterclass with the participation of 4 companies, with the presentation of the sommelier Li Dongyan, with 13 years of experience in the bar industry and owner of the Beijing Yan Jia Café & Bar.
The Creative Economy also had a space in Beijing, with an audiovisual workshop with the participation of audiovisual producer Giancarlo Nasi, lawyer, film producer and specialist in intellectual property -who has experience in co-production of Chilean and Chinese films-, Liu Yu, senior editor of Yi Shi Jie, a company that has marketed Chilean films and series for Chinese streaming platforms and Wang Xuanya, coordinator of the program "Divas Hit The Road" of Hunan Mango TV, reality that recorded the first chapter of its sixth season in Chile.
A business roundtable was also held in which 20 Chilean agricultural and food exporting companies held more than 150 meetings with Chinese importers.
ProChile also signed an agreement with the Economic Development Bureau of Hainan, an island province located in southern China, known for its tropical climate, paradisiacal beaches and rapidly growing economy, which has positioned itself as a strategic tourist and commercial destination. Through this cooperation agreement, the aim is to continue expanding the presence of Chilean products in China, jointly developing promotional activities.
Chile Week China 2024 will continue in Hangzhou, a city near Shanghai, where this event is being held for the first time.
