The Constituent process in Chile marks a key moment for all of Latin America and for liberal democracies around the world. It will be the first Constitution written after the COVID-19 pandemic. It is the result of a social uprising with roots in discontent about inequality in one of the continent's most prosperous countries. And it presents a golden opportunity to demonstrate how our societies can reach democratic consensus without resorting to the authoritarianism that has occurred in so many countries. If the Constitution can reflect a broad social pact and offer solutions to various modern crises, this will be a sign of success and must be supported by the entire international community.
