From advances in gender equality, competitiveness, tourism and education, various indicators for 2024 position our country favorably in the world.
The most competitive in the region
According to the World Competitiveness Rankingprepared by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), Chile maintains its leadership in the region, ranking 44th in the world, above Puerto Rico (49th), Mexico (56th) or Brazil (62nd), in a measurement focused on economic results, government and business efficiency and infrastructure.
Gender Equity
In the Global Gender Gap 2024 of the World Economic Forum, Chile ranked 21st in gender equity, climbing 6 places with respect to the 2023 measurement. This progress is a reflection of the country's commitment to reducing gender inequality and promoting a more inclusive society.
Tourism
The Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI) of the World Economic Forum ranked Chile as the second most competitive country in Latin America in tourism . The ranking classifies countries according to their level of competitiveness in areas such as natural beauty, cultural capital, infrastructure, sustainability and technology, the latter being the strong point of our country in this report.
This recognition is added to the World Travel Awards (WTA)where Chile obtained distinctions as "Best Destination" in the categories of Adventure Tourism, Youth Travel, Green, Romantic and Leading City.
Education
Two Chilean Universities -Pontificia Universidad Católica and Universidad de Chile- are among the 5 best in the continent according to the British consulting firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)which in its annual report rates the 1,400 universities in the world, out of a total of 2,462 study centers.
The consulting firm also placed Santiago de Chile among the 150 best cities to study in 2025, in a measurement based on the opinions of students on campuses, affordability, livability, employment and diversity.
Scientific Production
The Nature 2024 Ranking ranked Chile as the country with the second highest scientific production during the last decade in Latin America. According to the report, our country stands out in research and development, especially from higher education institutions, such as the University of Chile, which in the category "Earth and Environmental Sciences" appears with works of seven of its academics.
Quality of Life
In the study Expat Insider 2024 study, Chile appears in 40th place among the best countries to settle in . This questionnaire addresses various topics such as quality of life, ease of settling down, working abroad, personal finances and the situation of migrants. Our country prevails over powers such as Germany, Italy and Canada.
Chile also ranked 38th in the Happiest Countries in the World 2024, a study that analyzes 146 countries in variables such as gross domestic product per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom in making life decisions and generosity of the population in general.
Wines of Chile
Four national brands were positioned among the most powerful in the world in the Global Wine Brand Power Index 2024 conductedby IWSR, two of these brands were among the top 10, highlighting the quality and prestige of national wines in the global market.
