More than 60 Chilean authors will be present at the 47th version of the International Book Fair in the Argentine capital, which kicked off in the last week of April. From emblematic figures such as Gabriela Mistral to outstanding contemporary writers such as Raúl Zurita, Chilean literature has left a deep and significant mark on the international scene.

The long-awaited Buenos Aires International Book Fair (FIL Buenos Aires) has inaugurated its 2023 edition, and on this occasion, Santiago de Chile was the guest of honor. A renowned cultural event that each year brings together literature lovers, writers, publishers and readers from all over the world, the trans-Andean literary fair has given special emphasis to Chilean participation, further enriching the literary experience for visitors.

The Chilean delegation was led by the Minister of Cultures, Jaime de Aguirre and the Governor of Santiago, Claudio Orrego; the Undersecretary of Cultures, Andrea Gutiérrez; the Chilean Ambassador, Bárbara Figueroa; the Director of Dirac, Carola Muñoz; the President of the Enrique Lihn Foundation, Andréa Lihn; and the Executive Director of Fundación Imagen de Chile, Rossana Dresdner.

During the opening ceremony, the important contribution of our capital city to the Latin American literary scene was recognized, noting that its election sought, among other things, to promote cultural diversity and strengthen ties between Argentina and Chile in the field of literature.

The presence of our capital as a guest city will be reflected in various spaces within the literary fair, from round tables and talks, to book presentations and exhibitions, which will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the rich literary tradition that characterizes our country, as well as various cultural activities to bring attendees even closer to the vibrant cultural scene that characterizes Chilean authors.

Fundación Imagen de Chile also celebrated this initiative by conducting exclusive interviews with four representatives of the quality and diversity of our literary proposal: Raúl Zurita, Elicura Chihuailaf, Carla Guenfelbein and Ariel Richards. The interviews can be read here

Nearly 60 authors will share their work and experience with the Argentine public in the Santiago pavilion, a participation that promises to provide a unique perspective on contemporary Chilean literature, and will be available until May 15.
