The constituent process in Chile is an essential moment for all Latin America and even for the liberal democracies of the world. It will be the first Constitution drafted after the COVID-19 pandemic, the product of a social outburst of discontent over inequality in one of the continent's most prosperous countries, and a golden opportunity to demonstrate that our democratic societies can reach consensus without resorting to the authoritarianism that has taken over so many countries. That the Constitution reflects a broad pact and provides answers to several of the modern crises will be a sign of success and should be a purpose supported by the entire international community.
