Canadian entrepreneur and writer, expert in place branding, collaborative work and storytelling, co-founder of Story Engine, Places are People, Todd Babiak is CEO of Brand Tasmania, an organization that promotes and inspires the inhabitants of this Australian island, with more than 500,000 members, to generate economic, social and cultural benefit for this State.

In an interview with Las Ultimas Noticias, Babiak delved into how the identity of the localities is what determines the country's image, taking as an example the work of positioning the island that makes up the State of Australia, recognized and awarded worldwide.

"Identity defines the country brand"

Larissa Perdomo, Country Brand Manager of Uruguay, and Todd Babiak, CEO of Brand Tasmania, were two of the speakers who participated in the Chile 2023 Image Meeting.

At the event, both agreed on the need to find an identity based on local culture as the key to strengthening a country brand, as well as on the fact that the work of positioning a nation directly affects the attraction of tourism and foreign investment.

In the interview published in Diario Financiero, both talked about the importance of political stability, credibility and culture to add value and attract investment.
