In a colorful closing event at the Stade de France, Team Chile closed a dream performance at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the second best in its history.

Positive balance

"We are very proud of our athletes. They came to Paris to compete on equal terms with the best in the world and they proved to be at that level. Francisca and Yasmani's medals are pure history, but we have to add two Olympic Diplomas, three Top Ten and several performances with the best result of their discipline in an Olympic Games. When we return to Chile we will have a more detailed analysis, but in sporting terms it was very positive", said the President of the Chilean Olympic Committee (COCH), Miguel Angel Mujica.

He also stressed that these results are the fruit of years of previous work: "The medals and all the good results in Paris 2024 are the result of long-term work, which began in 2010 with the implementation of the Olympic Plan, the Technical Methodological Unit and the collaboration between the Chilean Olympic Committee, its Federations and the State. In the last five years we have achieved the best results in the South American and Pan American Games, and now in Paris we are closing the second best Olympic Games in our history. It is time to take a new step forward, with greater resources for the federations and special plans prioritizing the athletes who are the best in the world in their disciplines".

In this way, Team Chile achieved some records such as:

1 - Second best Chilean performance in history.

2 - First Chilean woman (Francisca Crovetto) to win an Olympic gold.

3 - First time since Melbourne 1956 that a delegation won medals in more than one sport (boxing and athletics on that occasion).

4 - Two Olympic diplomas: Macarena Pérez (5th in BMX Freestyle) and Clemente Seguel (8th in sailing, ILCA 7).
Three top ten: Macarena Pérez (5th), Marco and Esteban Grimalt (9th) and sisters Melita and Antonia Abraham (9th).

5 - 55th in the medal standings, being top 5 in Latin America, surpassing American powers such as Mexico and Colombia.
