On International Clean Air Day, we present Reborn Electric Motors, the first electric bus factory in Latin America.

In Rancagua, 80 km south of Santiago, is located the factory of Reborn Electric Motors (REM), which is dedicated to create 100% electric bus models and convert models with combustion engines to electric. The company currently has ten 100% electric buses designed in this factory.

The factory, inaugurated in July of this year, expects to develop around 200 zero-emission electric buses annually, contributing to the depollution of the cities, and avoiding the emission of 65,200 tons of CO2 per year to the atmosphere.

The first model available is the Reborn Electric Motors RE003, ataxi-bus with an autonomy of 200 kilometers and capacity for 24 passengers. It is the first electric bus manufactured in Chile with permission to circulate on public roads granted by the Ministry of Transportation.

"This plant demonstrates that it is possible to generate value and national technology. And that we can add value to our copper and our lithium", said Felipe Cevallos, general manager of REM. These modern buses are also equipped with air-conditioning, heating and USB chargers for passenger comfort.

The Chilean company signed an agreement with Codelco to supply 104 electric buses for mining activities and worker transportation at the El Teniente mine in Rancagua.

The company expects to become an export reference for these vehicles with a view to the potential of South America.
