Chile will be the first Latin American country to test Starlink's satellite internet service

The pilot project will be launched in schools in two of Chile's remote coastal towns, one in the north of the country and one in the south.

Two of Chile's remote coastal towns will be the first in Latin America to access the Starlink project's satellite internet services in the coming weeks, the Telecommunications Undersecretariat (SUBTEL) announced on Monday. The service will be experimental and free of charge for the first year.

Starlink, a division of Space X owned by billionaire Elon Musk, is a network of small satellites created to provide high-speed, low-latency internet services to remote locations around the world where communications are problematic.
