CEM12 / MI-6 will be attended by ministers of state, global leaders and recognized experts in energy transformation and innovation from the world's leading economies.
Between May 31 and June 6, Chile will host the most important international clean energy and innovation summit of the year, the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM 12) and the Mission Innovation Ministerial (MI-6), becoming the first South American country to lead these ministerial meetings.
The topics to be addressed at this world forum - the energy prelude to COP26 - will revolve around social, economic and climate challenges such as decarbonization, electromobility, green hydrogen and the innovations needed to achieve carbon neutrality.
Some of the confirmed participants for the event include U.S. Special Envoy for the Environment John Kerry, businessman and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, World Energy Council President Angela Willkinson, and World Economic Forum President Børge Brende.
"The most developed countries are looking favorably on all the energy management that Chile is carrying out today. And as hosts of the most important event on clean energy and innovation, we believe that this event will be very valuable to continue advancing in an ambitious energy transition, in which the different countries can share good practices, coordinate concrete actions that allow us to go faster and be efficient to reach carbon neutrality by 2050. In addition, we want this event, despite being high-level, to be focused on citizens. And for this we are working on a unique and innovative platform, so that everyone can witness the great discussions on energy issues, for the good of the planet, for those who inhabit it today and for generations to come," said the Minister of Energy and Mining, Juan Carlos Jobet.
The summit will be held virtually through a digital platform specially designed for the occasion, which will allow interested people from all over the world to access talks, panels and other content on demand from their mobile devices.
