Today is celebrated in the world the International Day of Education, one of the areas that has had to reinvent itself as a result of the pandemic. The Chilean houses of study have not been left behind, the online alternatives to give continuity or start studies are wide, especially for foreigners who chose our country to perform some undergraduate or postgraduate studies, which in 2019 were more than 32,000.

Today we give you 5 reasons why Chile is an excellent place to study both undergraduate and graduate degrees or to carry out collaborative projects, either virtually or in person.

1- At the forefront of online university exchanges

If we are talking about innovation in education, in Chile we are pioneers in Latin America in online university exchanges.

Since the end of 2020, about 24 national schools belonging to the Learn Chile network have begun to implement the COIL methodology (Collaborative Online International Learning or virtual exchange). This project puts Chile at the regional forefront of international, online and collaborative learning.

The COIL methodology is an approach that connects students and professors from different cultures to learn and work on a variety of online collaborative projects, which are generally of short duration. In Chile, these projects are being developed in a network, mainly with universities in North and South America, and will involve more than 1,400 students from the network's partner institutions and a similar number of international students.

2- Territory as a natural laboratory

Chile's natural diversity offers territorial specialties among which stand out areas such as mining, the environment and astronomy. So if you are interested in studying a career or postgraduate degree related to these areas, in Chile you can learn in situ in the best natural laboratory and using innovative technologies and methods of a global nature. Can you imagine learning in Antarctica or in the powerful astronomical observatories in the north of the country?

3- Globally recognized universities

We have universities that stand out in the most important education rankings. Twenty of them are among the top 100 in Latin America in the renowned THE (Times Higher Education) ranking.

4- Agreements with institutions around the world

Chile has bilateral agreements for undergraduate and graduate studies with countries in the region that facilitate both access to scholarships and the processing of student visas. In addition, the country's universities have signed numerous agreements with institutions around the world.

5- Wide variety of educational programs

In the different institutions we have more than 5,000 graduate and continuing education programs for you to choose from. Many of them will be carried out remotely and, when the coronavirus allows it, face-to-face classes will be resumed for those who prefer it. A good part of this academic offer will be available at the II Virtual Fair Study in Chile, which will be held in May of this year.
