World Vision International, the international humanitarian aid organization, recognized Chilean nurse Patricia Galaz as one of the "unsung heroes" who work every day to confront the covid-19 pandemic, which currently has almost 4 million infections and has left more than 250,000 deaths worldwide.

Patricia Galaz works at the Hualqui Cesfam, a rural commune of around 23,000 inhabitants in the Biobío Region. According to her, the outbreak of covid-19 has forced her to rethink her work, as health personnel have had to go out of the clinics to patients' homes to deliver medical care and food. In addition, they have to travel several times a day between Hualqui and Concepción, 40 km away, for the collection and delivery of samples.

"I am honored and very excited. I believe that through me it is a recommendation for all the people who work on the front line and who are making an enormous effort to combat this virus. It is a beautiful work and I am happy and grateful to have this privilege," said Patricia Galaz, who has been a World Vision International volunteer for several years.
Fundación Imagen de Chile highlighted this international recognition that makes visible the dedication of so many Chileans who, like Patricia, give their best to face this pandemic.
