Diamela Eltit, the Chilean writer considered the most outstanding and important in her country, the one who confronted the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet with ideas, actions and literature, is the winner of the Carlos Fuentes International Award for Literary Creation in Spanish Language 2020 and becomes the second woman to receive it. Previous winners include Mario Vargas Llosa (2012), Sergio Ramírez (2014), Eduardo Lizalde (2016), Luis Goytisolo (2018) and Luisa Valenzuela (2019).
