On May 15 and 16, Chileans went to the polls to elect the people who will be in charge of drafting the new Constitution. The elected Constitutional Convention brings together representatives of diverse political and independent sectors, from young people to senior citizens, including people from indigenous peoples.
This Convention also has the particularity of being a parity convention, an unprecedented fact in the world. Of the 155 elected delegates, 77 are women and 78 are men. Lawyers, professors, journalists, sociologists, scientists and engineers are some of the profiles of the people who will draft the next Magna Carta, a text that seeks to bring together different points of view, establish itself as a framework of unity that appeals to all Chileans and lay the foundations for a fairer and more egalitarian country for all.
