For the fifth consecutive year, Chile participated in the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition, the world’s leading gathering of the hydrogen industry, held May 19–21 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

With a delegation of nearly 30 representatives from the public and private sectors, led by Undersecretary of Energy Hugo Briones, Chile’s participation marked a shift from strategy toward the implementation of concrete projects. The official noted that Chile seeks to “reaffirm its commitment to the development of a globally competitive industry,” highlighting its role in the energy transition and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

The Chilean delegation reflects a well-established public-private partnership, with participation from ProChile and H2 Chile. Marcos Kulka emphasized that hydrogen “represents a strategic opportunity to advance energy security, industrial development, and clean energy generation.”

Furthermore, this initiative reinforces a strategy focused on the industry’s economic viability. Ana María Ruz of Corfo emphasized that “Chile’s green hydrogen strategy is a national policy,” highlighting the importance of financial learning and the development of international markets.

The national representatives’ agenda included key events such as “From Vision to Reality: Unlocking the Netherlands–Chile Green Energy Corridor,” which focused on regulation, financing, and infrastructure, as well as bi-regional meetings aimed at strengthening partnerships between Europe and Latin America.

In addition, the delegation visited Drenthe, one of Europe’s leading hydrogen hubs, where it learned about specific examples of integration between production, storage, and industrial use.

The 2026 edition of the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition brought together more than 10,000 attendees from over 70 countries, including government officials, energy companies, investors, and project developers. The event is recognized as one of the leading global platforms for forging partnerships and driving the development of the hydrogen economy.
