Recently published data on the protective effects of the Chinese covid-19 vaccine, Sinovac, are encouraging, Chile's Minister of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, Andrés Couve, told a press conference on Sunday.
The minister praised the vaccine's effectiveness in preventing symptomatic infections, hospitalizations, serious illnesses and deaths. He pointed out that mass vaccination in Chile is underway, with more than 5 million people having received the two doses. By mid-year, 15 million will have been inoculated.
