More than 4.1 million Chileans have already received the first dose of the vaccine. The country aims to vaccinate 80% of its 19 million inhabitants by July.
"We are the second fastest vaccinating country in the world, behind Israel," said Chilean Health Minister Enrique Paris on Monday, March 8. In fact, the vaccination campaign against the Covid-19 virus is progressing at an impressive pace in the South American country. Since the beginning of February, more than 4.1 million people out of a population of 19 million have already received a first dose, equivalent to 22% of the population, compared to less than 6% in France; 772,000 are fully vaccinated.
"Obviously we are very proud," said the minister, a member since June 2020 of President Sebastián Piñera's right-wing government.
