Imagen de Chile organized a press conference with correspondents from the main media and news agencies in the country in order to publicize the collection of information from the Covid-19 Data Sub-table led by the Ministry of Science and the use of this material by the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization for epidemiological surveillance in the region.
At the event, Minister Andrés Couve highlighted the work of the Covid-19 Data Sub-desk, which collects this information and makes it available to the public in a periodic and standardized manner, figures that are constantly updated. He also referred to the fundamental role of academics, who use this information for their research in the context of the health crisis.
Enrique Pérez-Gutiérrez, coordinator of the Epidemic Intelligence Pillar of the PAHO/WHO office in Washington, highlighted the quality and quantity of the data collected in the country, which are part of an input that the institution handles to carry out epidemiological surveillance in the region and design public health measures.
