Chile is a frontrunner in the race for COVID-19 vaccination

To date, its inoculation campaign has been the most successful in South America.

After being hit by social unrest and a serious coronavirus outbreak, Chile hopes to turn a corner as it moves firmly ahead of its South American peers in the race for Covid-19 vaccines. More than 2,700,000 vaccines have already been administered to the Chilean population (out of 19 million), more than in all of Africa. In doing so, the country has become one of the leaders in the global race for vaccines per capita, trailing only a handful of wealthier countries, including Israel, the United Kingdom and the United States.
