For the first time in its history, the World Travel Awards (WTA), better known as the "Oscars of tourism", crowned our country with first place in the most important category in Latin America: Best Destination 2020.
This recognition adds to the six consecutive years in which the contest has awarded Chile as the Best Adventure Tourism Destination, given the variety of landscapes and sports practicable in its territory.
"We are very proud that Chile has been chosen as the best destination of the year by the World Travel Awards for Latin America. This recognition reinforces the positioning of our country as an attractive and captivating destination. Not only do we have an extraordinary and diverse territory, but also the talent to develop infrastructure and services that allow us to guarantee a unique experience to those who visit us, and we are waiting for you all to marvel at our nature and the warmth of Chileans once the borders open," commented Constanza Cea, executive director of Imagen de Chile.
In addition, this year the country won three additional awards at the WTAs: Santiago was recognized as the Best Destination for Festivals and Events for the third consecutive time, the Atacama Desert was recognized as the Best Romantic Destination in South America, leaving behind iconic destinations in the region, such as Buenos Aires, Cartagena de Indias and Rio de Janeiro, and for the second time we won the award for Best Nature Destination.
