In 2019 Chile was crowned "pentacampeón" in the category Best Adventure Tourism Destination in South America at the World Travel Awards, the highest award in the tourism industry at the international level, recognizing not only a privileged territory for this type of tourism, but also the services and infrastructure that allow it to offer visitors a first-class experience.
And this year could repeat itself. In a 2020 that has been characterized for hitting tourism hard at a global and local level as a result of the health crisis, Chile could surprise again with good news. A few weeks ago, the South American edition of the World Travel Awards published the nominations for its 2020 version in various categories, and Chile appears in 19 of them: Best Adventure Travel Destination, Green Destination, Romantic Destination, Nature, Cultural, Culinary and LGBT.
In addition to this, the campaign "Welcome to adventure tourism" was recently recognized in Spain. The video, starring six outstanding Chilean athletes, won first place in the Tourism Destination category of the fourth edition of the prestigious Terres Travel Festival, an event that highlights the productions that countries make to encourage travel to their destinations.
In this way, Chile is preparing to welcome the fans of adventure tourism once the borders are opened and a safe experience can be guaranteed for all.
