The Best Mobile App Awards 2016 recognized "Recetas de Chile", an application developed by Imagen de Chile, with the "Silver Award for Best Social or Lifestyle App". The organization that presented the award is since its inception a platform that seeks to group and reward "the best mobile applications available in the market".
The application seeks to showcase typical Chilean preparations while also reflecting the cultural heritage of Latin America, positioning gastronomy as a central part of the national culture. "Recetas de Chile" is divided into 5 categories: Appetizers, Salads, Soups, Sandwiches and Desserts, and also includes information on levels of difficulty and preparation times. Some of the traditional dishes included are casseroles, chupes, stew, cancato, humita and pulmay, but options such as empanada de charqui de llama and pebre de cochayuyo, among others, were also considered.
The app can be downloaded for free for Android and iOS operating systems in their respective stores and since its launch in 2016 it has accumulated more than 70 thousand downloads.
This award is in addition to the recent triumph obtained in 5 categories of the MobileWebAwards, a contest developed by the Web Marketing Association, where it stood out as the best program for cell phones and tablets in the Gastronomy Industry, as well as in the areas of Information Services, Non-Profit, Beverages and Leisure.
The Executive Director of Imagen de Chile, Myriam Gómez, stated that "we are seeing how more and more Chileans identify with our cuisine", and added that "we are convinced that gastronomic development facilitates the projection of multiple aspects of our identity, such as our diversity, our culture, and the vocation for progress that characterizes Chileans".
This commitment to consolidate gastronomy as part of the national culture is not only seen in the success of "Recetas de Chile" but also in new projects. In order to continue captivating audiences through cuisine, Imagen de Chile recently launched "Chile Sandwiches", a mobile application that brings together more than thirty preparations in English and Spanish and seeks to disseminate to different audiences the true sandwich culture present throughout Chile.
