  • The institution in charge of promoting the country's image launched a series of audiovisual pieces as part of the Chile Creando Futuro country brand strategy to position Chile based on talent and Chileans as agents of change.
  • BirdsChile - a sustainable tourism agency that promotes the regeneration of ecosystems and contributes directly to the conservation of the flora and fauna of its destinations - is one of the selected initiatives that will be promoted in international markets.

"Teresa and Raffaele are contributing to the preservation of nature and raising awareness through adventure tourism, and if Teresa and Raffaele create the future, Chile creates the future". This story of two Chileans from the south of the country as agents of change is part of the new campaign of Imagen de Chile that, through 8 audiovisual pieces, seeks to position our country abroad with innovative cases, with purpose, and that connect with the global challenges of today.

In this context, on October 20, Fundación Imagen de Chile, together with BirdsChile and Fundación Legado, experimented with this new form of tourism. A trip was scheduled as any tourist in the world would do, in the Los Lagos Region. A tour of the area in which they monitored amphibians in the urban wetlands of the town of Llanquihue, a commune in which, through sustainable tourism, they have carried out an incredible work of restoration of wetlands, through cleaning, reincorporation of native flora, and a close work with the communities in creating awareness about them.

BirdsChile, a company born with the purpose of transforming tourism into an engine of sustainable development, through travel experiences that contemplate concrete actions of impact mitigation and regeneration through the philosophy of rewilding and giving back.

"It is a great opportunity to be part of this campaign of Imagen de Chile and thus be present in international markets. We believe that tourism should become a tool for the regeneration of our ecosystem, the cultural identity of our communities, and for that it is key that they are valued and made known," says Raffaele Di Biace, director of BirdsChile.

This is a form of tourism that is gaining more and more strength, seeking to move from an erosive activity to a regenerative one through experiences that value the natural heritage of tourist destinations, in collaboration with the communities, transforming the trip into an act of empathy with a traceable and measurable impact, generating a virtuous and unstoppable collaborative circle between entrepreneurship, travelers, communities and local organizations.

The co-founder of BirdsChile, Teresa Montes, values an opportunity to show an innovative and environmentally friendly tourism proposal. "That our sustainable tourism proposal, our landscapes, all the natural heritage that we want to show is reaching international markets is undoubtedly exciting, and motivates to be part of Chile's tourism offer with a different proposal, responsible, committed to the environment and communities".

This initiative was selected by Imagen de Chile because of its contribution to the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems. "Chile is much more than just landscapes and that is precisely what we want to show through this new stage of the campaign 'Chile Creating Future'. Through 8 stories that rescue that capacity of Chileans to find solutions and reinvent themselves in the face of global problems, we intend to show the world how Chile can be an example of innovation and creativity, positioning our country image through local talent," said the executive director (s) of Imagen de Chile, Jorge Cortés.

Chilean men and women creating the future

Bioproducts that optimize crop nutrition; tours focused on nature and wildlife in our country; filaments for 3D printing, based on biodegradable and recycled materials; sustainable and intelligent storage for renewable energies; edible light bulbs made with 100% plant-based ingredients; the highest wine in the country, made by native peoples; and a farmers' cooperative that grows crops in the driest desert in the world are the stories covered in this campaign, traveling through the regions of Arica, Tarapacá, Atacama, Antofagasta, La Araucanía and Los Lagos.

To select the stories that are portrayed in the audiovisual pieces, we worked together with incubators from the Universidad de Concepción, Universidad de la Frontera and the UC Innovation Center. ChileMass, an NGO that seeks to promote collaboration in science, technology and education, also collaborated.

"For us as IncubatecUFRO it is great that ventures that were born in regions such as "MyConativa" and "BirdsChile" are part of this international campaign, as they allow us to publicize the potential of our Macrosur and the vision of its entrepreneurs who always saw their market beyond our borders," said the general director of IncubatecUFRO, Cristian Campomanes.

With 8 audiovisual pieces set to music by the production company Miranda y Tobar, this new part of the Chile Creating Future campaign seeks to focus not only on its territory, but also on Chileans as agents of change, creators of new ways of thinking and contributing to Chile and the world.

Throughout the month of October, the material will be disseminated to the national and international public, translated into 3 languages (Spanish, English and Portuguese), during the coming months, in New York, London, Madrid and Sao Paulo through digital platforms.

It is also possible to learn about the stories behind this campaign by accessing the Imagen de Chile landing page, where the experiences of unknown Chileans who are creating the future today will be presented.
