Our country has taken a huge and historic digital step forward, thanks to the implementation of the Humboldt submarine cable, which will become the first digital connection point between South America and Asia and Oceania.

"This cable consolidates Chile's position as the center of digital activity in South America, which will open up opportunities for new industries, jobs and better working and living conditions for thousands of people". Gabriel Boric, President of the Republic of Chile.

This is the first transoceanic cable in the world, which will undoubtedly transform our country into one of the digital leaders in the region as it will allow direct data connection to these continents.

Characteristics of the Humboldt submarine cable

It is worth mentioning that the Humboldt cable was born thanks to an agreement with the multinational Google, and it is more than 14 thousand kilometers long. Among its advantages is that it will allow more robust and stable internet connections and will also allow the exchange of scientific data between these areas of the world.

In this respect, President Gabriel Boric, who led the presentation ceremony, emphasized that "this type of work reflects the profound vocation for integration that our country has and our capacity to be a bridge through which to generate knowledge and connect different realities".

Construction of this submarine cable will reportedly begin in 2025 and is expected to be operational in the last quarter of 2026.
