Covid-19 test: Chilean researcher's novel method to help detect asymptomatic patients

In a new study, published in the specialized journal eLife, a group of Chilean and British scientists claim to have developed a novel method to identify asymptomatic or presymptomatic patients as a way to help reduce the spread of the virus.

His technique consists of taking samples from people's cell phone screens, an idea that is low-cost, non-invasive and with reliable results, according to the study.

"The big problem with covid-19 is that a lot of people walk down the street spreading it and don't know it," Dr. Rodrigo Young, creator of this method and researcher at the Institute of Ophthalmology at University College London in the United Kingdom, tells BBC Mundo.
