Institute of Engineers awarded the 2020 Gold Medal to Álvaro Fischer, member of the board of directors of Imagen de Chile.

The Institute of Engineers of Chile distinguished Álvaro Fischer with the Gold Medal 2020. This is the highest recognition of the corporation and with it they seek to reward the Chilean engineer with more than 40 years of professional career who has stood out for his services to the country, the profession or the Institute.

The Institute of Engineers of Chile is an academic organization founded in 1888 oriented to the development of the country through different specialties. Its main objective is to promote engineering excellence. Throughout its history it has participated in important initiatives, such as the Corfo Foundation, the Chilean electrification plan, the Environmental Law, among others.

The Gold Medal has been awarded since 1931, and its recipients include Jorge Alessandri, Raúl Sáez, Eduardo Simián, Tomás Guendelman, Andrés Weintraub and Diego Hernández.
Álvaro Fischer is a mathematical engineer from the Universidad de Chile, entrepreneur, company director and essayist. He is currently a member of the board of directors of Fundación Imagen de Chile, president of the National Council of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, president of Fundación Ciencia y Evolución, and representative of the President of the Republic in the University Council of the University of Chile.
