Between October 1 and March 31, 2022, the United Arab Emirates will host the first event of its kind in the midst of the COVID-19 health crisis, welcoming investors and entrepreneurs from around the world. This year's theme will be "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future."
Expo 2020 Dubai begins this October, and it will be the first expo to be held in MENASA (Middle East, North Africa and South Asia). Chile will be participating under core themes of sustainability, innovation and food safety.
Headed by ProChile, Chile's 600m2 pavilion will operate as a business center that will allow domestic exporters to connect with investors, professionals and importers from around the world. This will allow Chilean companies and institutions to generate new business networks and to cooperate with peers from around the globe.
Just like in previous expos, the pavilion will have themes that are connected to Expo 2020 Dubai's central theme of "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future." With this in mind, the pavilion will address the issues of innovation, sustainability and food safety, three areas in which Chile is creating future.
According to research undertaken by Imagen de Chile in Dubai, 49% of those surveyed believe that Chile promotes the development of science and technology. Along with this, 52% think that Chile exports quality products; 47% say that Chile promotes entrepreneurship, and 39% believe that Chile is committed to sustainability.
Chile's Core Themes
In terms of innovation, Chile is internationally recognized for being a pioneering entrepreneurial ecosystem, ranking first in Latin America in the Global Entrepreneurship Index. In addition to this, Startup Chile is one of the most successful business acceleration programs in the world.
With regard to sustainability, many factors make Chile relevant. Because of its geographical and natural characteristics, its commitment to combatting climate change and to sustainable development, Chile is considered one of the most competitive countries in the world for the production and development of green hydrogen. It is also one of the most advanced in terms of having its energy matrix based on renewable sources.
Finally, in food safety, Chile stands out as a reliable and sustainable food supplier. The country's unique mix of different climate types, geographical diversity and experience make Chile a major player in the global food industry.
In the six-month duration of the expo, different public bodies, companies and private associations will be showing what Chile has to offer to more than 10 million in-person visitors. All of this will demonstrate what Chile can provide the world and how Chile is creating future.
