Before becoming the first Chilean rugby team to compete in a World Cup, Los Cóndores were a group of young men who trained on a dirt field in Mahuida Park, in La Reina. Juggling school, work, and other responsibilities, they learned to build a team long before they reached the big stage.
That home game marked the beginning of a story that changed Chilean rugby forever. In 2022, they defeated the United States in Denver and secured Chile’s first-ever World Cup berth. Three years later, their victory over Samoa directly secured a spot in Australia 2027, confirming that that first achievement was the start of a new era.
Like Los Pumas in Argentina or Los Teros in Uruguay, Chile found in the condor a symbol to help it soar higher. Because before conquering the world of rugby, Los Cóndores learned something even more important: that great flights also begin with both feet on the ground.
