The coup started a national process that inserted us in the world in a way we never dreamed of. The world set its eyes on Chile and a piece of Chile went out to the world. 50 years later, we want to show the "Chilean" reality of thousands of compatriots, far from our borders; to show how the world has seen us in these 50 years and to show how we ourselves have seen and see ourselves.

Claudia Poblete

Testimonial

"When I was eight months old I was kidnapped with my father and mother and we were taken to a clandestine detention center in Buenos Aires. Then I was handed over to a military man with his wife, who stayed with me and falsified my identity for 21 years."

Testimonial

"As Juan Gelman, an Argentine poet, would say: In spite of so much suffering of those people, what a strange thing -he says-, in spite of all that, they know how to smile, they know how to hope and that things will ever change, what a strange thing... And that is what is happening with Chile."

Testimonial

"Leaving your country is difficult, isn't it? At 6 years old or 25 years old, 30 years old my parents were, to be exiled, to go back to rebuild in a new environment that although they spoke the same language was very different, it was very difficult, very hard".

Natalia Ponce García

Testimonial

"I wish people could open up more, listen to others. Not only to the 50 years of a dictatorship. It is necessary to take these spaces to remember what can happen to us again, and also to celebrate what we have achieved and see where we want to go."

Alejandro Zambra.

Testimonial

"It was always important to connect with the exile communities I was meeting. I remember people my age speaking Chilean. Yet it was a, an accent stopped in time. It was a very moving feeling.

"We can tell our sad stories, but we never tell all the wonderful things, because life is not black and white, there are so many colors, there are so many things that happen. I want to tell the love story."
